Recent trends in Food Lipids will present general introduction to all aspects of food lipids and its implications on Human health. The food industry is in a period of change and rapid development and this will bereflected in the presentations that are made. Following the sad death in May 2000 of AOCS Fellow Dr E.G. Perkins, the meeting will be dedicated to his memory.
This conference is an essential meeting for anyone from academia and industry to gain a basic and comprehensive overview of the recent trends in food lipids. Food technologists whether concerned with the supply of oils, processing, food production, nutrition, health, product development or quality control will gain practical state of the art knowledge for immediate use as well as possibilities for new product developments for future applications.
The range of topics to be discussed during the conference include Global Marketing Development within Oils and Fats, Essentiality of Oils and Fats for human nutrition and disease, Novel Sources and Structured Lipids, approaches to nutrition by Biotechnology, Modifications of Oils and Fats in Relation to Product Development, Antioxidants and Quality Control. Introduction to Pulsed NMR Techniques is enhanced by interactive practical sessions.
The value of the conference will be further enhanced by tabletop displays where major companies will be mounting an exhibition of their products and facilities. This exhibition will provide state of the art technology in the area of modern food industry.
Call for Posters and Presentations
(15 minutes)
Participaants wishing to present scientific results on posters or oral presentations are requested to submit an abstract in English (max 300 words) to IFSC not later than October 20, 2000. Presenters will be notified of the acceptance of their abstract. All accepted abstracts will be printed in the course notes.
There will be a spouse's programme. There will be pre- and postconference tours to Seventh Wonder of the World. Please ask for details.

Registrations are firm after 20th of October 2000. Substitutions may be made at any time.
Rooms in The Bristol Hotel will be allocated on a first-come basis. Rooms of same standard have been booked in neighbouring hotels.
No reservations can be confirmed until the total fee has been received.
Final deadline for booking of accomodation is 20th of October 2000. After that date, rooms cannot be guaranteed.
The total housing rate per person in single room is USD 275 for 3 nights. If two persons from the same institution share a twinroom the price is USD 250 per person
The total housing rate includes accomodation in high quality rooms with airconditioning, telephone, cable TV, in house music channel, non- or smoking room and minibar.
Housing fee can only be refunded if cancellation is made prior to October 20, 2000. After that date no refunds can be granted. Substitution may be made at any time.
